Nordik Spa Experience

Updated: Dec 10

Thermëa Spa Village

For thanksgiving, my husband and I decided to spend it with one of our close couple friends (Angie and Steve) in Canada. Angie and I have been friends for about 7 years now and she has been hyping her country hard all those years, so when the opportunity came to visit Toronto, Canada, I was not going to pass on it!
Happy to say that she was right, Toronto, though cold, was such a beautiful experience. So many lovely memories were made!

Prior to our trip, we were asked to book a day at Thermea Spa Village for the Nordik spa experience. I have to say it was a much needed experience! Upon arrival we realised we booked at a different location (Quebec) and had to move our booking to the Ontario location. This was a seamless transfer, and we were able to have our full day access to the spa. We had booked different treatments with our initial booking but this location was fully booked for treatments so we will have to try those options on our next visit - Stay tuned!

We were checked in, given waterproof wrist bands that gave us access to all the amenities on the grounds. Locker numbers were assigned to us, as well as towels and robes (which we could change anytime during our stay). The locker area was quite spacious with big enough lockers for personal belongings. After placing our belongings in the lockers we headed to the showers for a quick rinse off, changed into our swimwear and robes and headed out to the grounds!

There were five outdoor hot baths with different temperatures in each, four cold plunges, showers, indoor saunas, steam rooms, ritual experiences, as well as indoor and outdoor rest areas.
Our first stop was the outdoor hot bath which was needed considering how cold it was outside. They do advise to bring slippers with you, which we did. We then moved to one of the two different steam rooms while we waited to experience the Aufguss Ceremony which is a sauna 'ritual' - basically a guided meditation in a sauna with different aromas. The ceremony was incredible, we loved it so much we did it again before leaving the premises.

Another treatment we really enjoyed was the Kalla floatation pool.
This was simply meditating while floating in a salt saturated shallow pool, and it was so relaxing! We had to go for seconds on this as well!

Around 2pm, Tyler and I went to the restaurant for some lunch while the others went for their reserved treatments. Lunch was good, we had some beer, sliders and chips. They also have finer dining option on the premises which I think is perfect if you are spending the whole day there.

Experiencing every room on the grounds was literally impossible if we wanted to fully enjoy it, so we took our time in each room we were in. In total, we experienced three of the outdoor baths with varying temperatures, three saunas (the Halo sauna, Kabin sauna, Fläm sauna), one steam room, an indoor rest area, the Aufguss ceremony (twice) and the Kalla treatment (twice).

When we were done, we took our showers, dressed up and clocked out to begin our drive back for dinner!
A 10/10 experience that I highly recommend to anyone traveling to Canada. The Thermea Spa Experience has three locations: Quebec, Ontario (the location we visited) and Manitobia.

I'm so glad we did this! Best spa experience by far.
