Zanzibar is a tropical island located in the Indian ocean. With it's beautiful beaches and the clearest blue waters, Zanzibar is a must visit destination. Packing was pretty easy, but in my opinion, these 5 items are a must have if you plan to make the trip.
Sunscreen
This is the number one essential item.
There was a lot of outdoor adventures and having sunscreen on was a must. My advice is to have more than one so you place one in your room, and one in your bag so you're never without it! I am currently loving Garnier Ambre Solange UV SPF50 sunscreen, which my sister highly recommended. I have tried a couple of sunscreens that irritated my eyes as the day went on, but Garnier Ambre Solange UV SPF50 has been so good for me - zero irritation and it feels amazing.
Sunglasses
Making sure you have multiple options is always a good idea, but if you had to pick just one I would say go for a chic full oversized style. During my stay, I stuck with my ever faithful Elisa Johnson Jeannie Sunnies in Brown Turquoise during the day. If like myself, you're a tinted sunglasses kind of person, I highly recommend Elisa Johnson's Jane in Gloss tinted sunnies.
On our trip, being able to feel free in our clothes made everything so much easier. We packed lots of loose linen and cotton dresses, shorts and shirts; I highly recommend this for a more comfortable experience.
Majority of the dresses I wore were maxi dresses I had made in Ghana by EliSunny Couture before leaving on my trip!
You are there to create memories, and taking pictures - be it on your phone or with a professional camera - I believe, is fundamental to record these moments and reminisce on a beautiful time had on your trip. So make sure you take photos! I love different forms of photographs so I made sure I had my polaroid camera, phone and digital camera with me.
Simple (but chic) personal bag
An easy grab and go bag was a definite necessity during our trip!
A tote, slouchy bag or backpack could work, as long as it's easy to carry and can hold any little items you decide to buy while you're out and about, just so your hands aren't full at the end of the day.
A bag that can easily go from a tour in Stone Town to the beach is ideal.
These are pretty basic essentials that I personally tend to forget, so this is just a simple reminder with some purchasing options!
